Pastor Mons
St. Paul’s Lutheran
Chapel and University Center is an awesome place, the very house of
God, and the gate of heaven. We say that because at St. Paul’s
Chapel the Triune God meets His people. Through Word and Sacrament,
he gives us the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through that Gospel
God touches us with the love and the forgiveness Jesus won for us
through his cross and empty tomb.

Greetings from St. Paul’s Lutheran Chapel!
Welcome to the website of St. Paul’s Lutheran Chapel and University
Center, the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod's campus ministry to
the University of Iowa community.
Jacob had a dream at Bethel in which he saw a stairway resting on
earth, reaching to heaven. Ascending and descending that stairway
were the angels of God. When Jacob awoke from his dream he said,
"How awesome is this place! It is none other than the house of God;
this is the gate of heaven." (Genesis 28:7)
What Jacob said of Bethel and the stairway can be said of St. Paul’s
Lutheran Chapel and University Center: it's an awesome place, the
very house of God, and the gate of heaven. We say that because at
St. Paul’s Chapel the Triune God meets his people. Through Word and
Sacrament, he gives us the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through
that Gospel God touches us with the love and the forgiveness Jesus
won for us through his cross and empty tomb.
At St. Paul’s, we believe that since God loved us first, we are to
reflect His love in our service to the university community. We are
committed to preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus in its truth
and purity. In all of our activities, the heart and core is always
Jesus Christ and him crucified and risen for us!
Blessings,
Rev. W. Max Mons, S.T.M.
